Folks, those of you who have been following me on this issue realize that we should have been taking action years ago to add to our water supply infrastructure. FINALLY Austin is beginning to admit that we may have a small problem – we could very quickly be running out of water. But what is our response? Hire another consultant. At a cost of somewhere between $200,000 and $900,000! We already have access to every bit of information that a consultant could possibly provide – we’re just afraid to take action. But at tomorrow’s council meeting, there it is on the consent agenda – an item to hire a consultant to tell us what our options might be. What a waste of time and money. And while we sit and wait a few more months for some sort of official sounding report, we continue to allow our remaining water supply to drop to increasingly dangerous levels and reduce our remaining response time. PLEASE read some of my recent blogs on this topic if you haven’t already done so. You’ll be amazed at where Austin really stands when it comes to running completely out of water.
